Studio Riz empowered AK Creationz with an advanced Adobe Illustrator training workshop, to help optimise how they create and prepare designs. We also created new custom artwork to help grow their product lineup and expand into the Kizomba, Bachata, and Salsa dance communities.
As a full-service design agency, Studio Riz is dedicated to empowering creative minds and innovative businesses to excel in their respective fields. Most recently, we had the opportunity to collaborate with AK Creationz, a startup dance fashion label founded by the inspiring Andrea Kanfo.
Navigating a Creative Journey
As a dedicated midwife, Andrea embarked on her creative journey a few months ago. The birth of her dance fashion business was a venture into unchartered territory for her. Initially, she was purchasing artwork from Etsy and modifying these designs using Silhouette Studio software. However, she soon came across time-consuming errors, identified that the print quality could be enhanced using vector files, and she wanted to learn how to harness Adobe Illustrator's potential.
Andrea approached Studio Riz with a humble inquiry that belied her immense determination: "I’m really struggling with using Silhouette Studio for the vectors and want to learn how to use Adobe Illustrator but have never used it before and feeling very overwhelmed with it."
Tailored Adobe Training
Responding to Andrea's needs, Studio Riz designed a tailored 4-hour Adobe Illustrator training workshop. This comprehensive session covered the fundamental aspects of the software, building up to more advanced skills such as creating patterns, converting files to a vector format for high-resolution printing, and editing existing files.
Our goal was not only to equip Andrea with technical knowledge, but also to build her confidence in using this versatile tool, thereby enabling her to take control of her creative process.
The more advanced Andrea got, the more advanced challenges she faced. Post-workshop we sent through quick screen recordings of solutions to the specific challenges she would face.
This personalised approach demystified Illustrator for Andrea, enabling her to use it to its full potential in enhancing her dancewear designs.
Beyond Training - A Creative Partnership
We believe in supporting our clients beyond just their immediate needs. Consequently, we collaborated with Andrea to create entirely new artworks and patterns. Drawing inspiration from Angolan, Dominican and African art, we introduced fresh designs to diversify her product lineup. The designs we produced were not just fresh and exciting; they were also affordable, respecting Andrea's commitment to offering quality dancewear at reasonable prices.
We are proud to report that Andrea was delighted with our initial work and intends to continue purchasing new designs. This will ensure her offerings stay fresh, attractive, and competitive.
